The Role

We’re looking for a Founding Backend Engineer who loves to ship — someone reliable, pragmatic, and motivated to get things done.

You’ll help Wabi build and maintain a growing ecosystem of backend integrations and automation services that power our mini-app platform.

This is not a research role — it’s about making things work: integrating APIs, building pipelines, and scaling services that connect Wabi to the wider world.

What You’ll Do

• Build and maintain integrations with external APIs.
• Collaborate closely with our core engineering and AI team to connect data and features across the product.

What We’re Looking For

Core Qualifications

• Solid hands-on coding ability in Python (2–5 years of professional experience or equivalent fluency).
• Alternatively, strong experience in another backend language with willingness to switch to Python fast.
• Understanding of web APIs, async patterns, and modern development tools.
• Reliability, autonomy, and consistency — you enjoy shipping working code regularly.

Nice to Have

• Experience integrating or working with AI-powered APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.).
• Curiosity about generative AI.
• Background in startups or small teams (preferred over large-corp experience).
• Experience with high-load or distributed systems — nice bonus but not required.
